University of West Georgia

Nov. 6, 2012:

Will the University take over the defunct Newnan Hospital and turn it into "The University of West Georgia, Newnan"??
Although the site , its traffic location, and the building architecture is under fire, it might be so.  Check back for more...

Coweta County Commissioners met this evening to further consider the University of West Georgia's move into the old Newnan Hospital facility.
Considerations were given to release the Shenandoah facility's Solar Circle deed to the University to allow going forward with the deal.  Stipulated was that the sale price of the Solar Circle property be reallocated back to Coweta county, applying its sale to the price of the main hospital facility, yielding a deal total of approximately 5.2 million minus the 2.2 million expected.  The Commissioners tentatively discussed participation of approximately 70%--30%, UWG and Coweta County respectively. Also discussed was making sure matching funds were allocated to "Technical".  The decision was to "go forward" and draft further documents regarding the deal. The Commissioners'  attitudes seemed favorable to moving forward.  No time frames were discussed.
-looking good, so far.  :)  It will be picturesque to see the University there, making Newnan a University Town in addition to its present Landmark status.

It is a go for Newnan Hospital to become the University of West Georgia (in Newnan); main campus is still Carrollton, GA--of course.  Estimated move-in date is January 01, 2015!  Go Wolves!
